Recovery after a Fast

Recovery after the fast

Generally speaking, for individuals under age fifty, it takes one day for each day of fasting to reach peak recovery or “surge” of energy after the fast. Thus, a ten-day fast requires ten days to recover. By recovery is meant a feeling of increased energy, meant clarity and normal physical strength.

For those over fifty years, recovery can be up to 2 days for every day fasting, or twenty days for a ten day fast.

Immediately after eating, there may be energy let downs, as the body adjust back to normal, non-ketogenic metabolism. So one can’t necessarily expect to fell immediately well after breaking the fast. Many changes have gone in the body internally, and it can require some time to fell the benefits of the fast. But when they do come, one often wonders why they didn’t do this before.

One will certainly be able to start normal routines soon after the fast, but total recovery means a feeling of improved functioning and health.
